“The Burpham Neighbourhood Forum is your chance to have your say in how our community develops over the next 20 years.

We are the “Acorn of the community” such that “the Oak tree” of the future survives into old Age –

The community needs to look inside it self and decide what it wants for its children, and its children’s children.

This forum survey is the opportunity to look to the future of Local Jobs, Local Housing, Community facilities, Public Utilities and Green Spaces.

Below is your opportunity to place on record what they/you want for your children’s future.”

Please treat this survey with respect.

The subjects covered are  ROADS, HOUSING, SCHOOLS, PUBLIC TRANSPORT, SOCIAL FACILITIES, UTILITIES, PROTECTION OF OUR GREEN SPACES, SHOPS, BUSINESS, JOBS  and ANY OTHER SUBJECT NOT COVERED BY THE PREVIOUS LISTING Which affects Burpham.

Some very radical suggestions with little chance of seeing the Light of Day Just to get your minds working on the future.

  1. Block Burpham lane and make it one way or a cul de sac to stop the rat run or place riser bollards to make it an access only area.
  2. Make a Railway Station “Halt” at George Abbot School to reduce congestion during school runs
  3. Make a separate slip road off the A3 for Merrow onto Merrow Lane to reduce Merrow Traffic through Burpham Centre
  4. Cover the A3 to reduce Noise levels & back fill with the towns refuse cover with green refuse to make over a mile of Green space reaching down to the River Way.
  5. Remove all the roundabouts on London Road and make them Traffic Lights to reduce both congestion and speeding.
  6. Make no left turn From Marlyns Drive into Burpham Lane to reduce the Rat run.
  7. Enforce all Buses from Burpham to stop at the Main Guildford Railway station.
  8. Should Guildford have a Tunnel from Gosden Hill to Compton to release 50% of the traffic?

Now its your turn to imagine what you want for the future to improve Burpham  let your mind run wild…..
